Shane Cartagena-Walsh dethrones an All-American, but Rutgers wrestling can’t slay Virginia Tech

Rutgers wrestling coach Scott Goodale hinted at what was unfolding behind the scenes. Shane Cartagena-Walsh was ready to seize his opportunity and did it in dramatic fashion Friday night by stunning All-American T.J. Stewart in a bout no one saw coming except maybe Goodale.
Cartagena-Walsh, a redshirt freshman from Ocean Township, delivered a 5-1 decision against Stewart at 184 pounds, but Rutgers lost the dual to Virginia Tech, 26-11, at the Moss Arts Building in Blacksburg, Virginia.
